Within the framework of the tenth anniversary of its creation, the<\/span>
\nAstur\u00a0Foundation\u00a0, under the leadership of its president, Enrique V. Iglesias, and<\/span>
\nas part of its strategic axis “Thinking the Future”, promoted<\/span>
\nthe Contest for Young Researchers “Proposals for Public Policies for Development based on Applied Knowledge \u201d.\u00a0To this Astur initiative, aimed at fostering the generation of knowledge around thematic areas of high relevance for the country, four Academic Partners were added who<\/span>
\nhonor its strength and quality:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Institute of Economics of the Faculty of Economic Sciences<\/span>
\nand Administration of the University of the Republic;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Institute of Political Science of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of the Republic;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Department of Humanities of the Catholic University<\/span>
\nof Uruguay;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Faculty of Culture of the CLAEH University.<\/span><\/p>\n

The joint work of the Foundation with its Academic Partners led to the awarding of the Astur Awards to the<\/span>
\nwinners of the Contest, governed by the bases that established the objectives, areas of specialization and requirements of content and form of the works, as well as those referred to the participation of their authors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on this, the main objective was to contribute to the development of applied knowledge oriented to five thematic areas: (a) Sustainable growth, (b) Gender and inclusion, (c) Old age<\/span>
\nand free time, (d) Citizen empowerment, and (e)<\/span>
\nCultural\u00a0production\u00a0and new technologies.\u00a0The awards in the areas of specialization of Gender and Inclusion and Citizen Empowerment<\/span>
\nwere declared void.<\/span><\/p>\n

The jury made up of Gabriela Mordecki, Adolfo Garc\u00e9,<\/span>
\nFacundo Ponce de Le\u00f3n, and Germ\u00e1n Silveira, representing<\/span>
\nthe four academic centers that support this Contest,<\/span>
\ndefined the awarding of the following prizes and mention:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAstur Prize 2020-21 Maximiliano Machado Goncalves “Improvements in water consumption towards a sustainable future:<\/span>
\nless plastic, less cost and better health”<\/span><\/p>\n

Astur 2020-21 Mention Lucas D\u00e1vila “Index of Attractiveness of Meat<\/span>
\nMarkets: A strategic tool for opening markets”<\/span><\/p>\n

Area of \u200b\u200bspecialization: Old age and free time<\/span><\/strong>
\nAstur Prize 2020-21 Sof\u00eda Schurmann Vignaga \u201c<\/span>
\nScreening\u00a0technique\u00a0for dementias\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Area of \u200b\u200bspecialization: Cultural production and new technologies<\/span><\/strong>
\nAstur Prize 2020-21 Joaqu\u00edn Pereira \u201cCOLLABORATORY:<\/span>
\nCo-creation of sustainable solutions for Uruguayan dance\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Astur Foundation thanks the young researchers who<\/span>
\npresented their work, Juan Jos\u00e9 Taccone, advisor of the<\/span>
\ninstitution who was in charge of coordinating the Contest and,<\/span>
