Summary

Objectives

  • Contribute to the extension and improvement of the quality of life of the elderly from the most vulnerable sectors of the country.
  • This will be done through the training of caregivers and the promotion of activities aimed at promoting their participation in instances that directly contribute to the active aging of the elderly population1. In the departments of Canelones, San Jose and the outskirts of Montevideo.
  • The Project seeks to influence the improvement of the living conditions of: (i) dependent elderly people in need of a caregiver; (ii) independent older people who can take care of themselves.
  • In both cases, the Project will focus on those individuals who require greater attention, combining the efforts of the State and civil society.
  • To achieve this objective, the Project will focus on the development and implementation of a training plan for people dedicated to caring for the elderly, as well as on the generation of a record of human resources dedicated to this activity, which provides information on their experience and training, in order to contribute to improving the quality of care for the target population.
  • Likewise, the design and implementation of an active aging model will be sought, with the aim of motivating older adults to leave their home and join new experiences related to physical exercise, computer science and floriculture.
  • The activities included in the Project are organized into the following components: Component 1 - Improving the quality of Elderly Care Component 2 - Promotion of Activities to Promote Active Aging
